Single Cultivar 'Kirai 31' Sencha
100g / 30g
This single cultivar sencha was grown in one of Kurihara Tea Farms newest fields. The sencha has been processed using a regular steaming method of around 40 seconds however the delicate nature of the raw leaf has a produced a tea closer to a fukumushi, deep steamed tea.
First produced in 1994, the Kirai 31 cultivar was created from a cross of Sakimidori and Saemidori cultivars. The tea has positive traits such as disease control and cold resistance as well as excellent tea quality. With the resistance to frost in mind it has been recommended to farmers at higher elevations.

About Kurihara Tea Farm:
Specialists in gyokuro tea leaf cultivation and processing, the Kurihara family began in 1922 as a wholesaler. In 1942 the first master decided to move his wholesale business to the Yame region, famed for its Yamecha, and start growing tea himself. His son, Kippei Kurihara is now a respected member of the Yame City legislature while sons Yuji and Akio begin to take over the tea agriculture business.
