Collection: Jinsui Kiln

Jinsui Kiln is an historic fourth-generation pottery studio in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture. One of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns with over 900 years of ceramic tradition. The kiln is now led by Yusuke Watanabe, who brings a designer's sensibility to this venerable craft.

About Jinsui

The name Jinsui combines the characters for "person" and "water," reflecting the philosophy that just as people need water to thrive, so too do civilisations flourish where water abounds. The studio is distinguished by its youthful team of skilled artisans, all women, who balance centuries-old techniques with contemporary design.

Pottery made in the Tokoname region dates back the 12th century. Tokoname yaki is one of the 6 ancient kilns of Japan and is recognised for utilising local, iron-rich clay that matures to a natural red colour without glaze. Today, it remains a major centre for teapots and traditional tea wares.

Working with Tokoname's signature iron-rich red clay, Jinsui creates kyusu that enhance the flavour of tea by subtly mellowing astringency and highlighting natural sweetness.

Each piece undergoes rigorous quality control, embodying both traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation for tea lovers worldwide.
