Kyo-yaki Matcha Tea Bowl from
Dainichi kiln, based in a quiet area of Kyoto, is run by father and son team Shigeo and Yotaro Takemura. All the works are hand crafted in time honoured tradition with new modern personal touches.
The kiln is known for experimenting with original pigments created from the ash of natural plants. The new techniques give the pottery organic colours and texture unique to the kiln.

About Kyo-yaki: Kyo-yaki (Kyoto Ware) is the traditional ceramic from Kyoto. There is a diverse rage of styles, shapes and ornate designs that reflect the cities rich history and culture. Ceramic artisans from Kyoto often incorporate techniques from various regions from around Japan. Unlike other famous pottery regions there are no rules that ceramicists from Kyoto have to adhere to giving them great freedom to explore their creativity.
