This matcha was awarded the Prix D'Argent (Silver Medal) at the Japanese Tea Selection, Paris competition.
Nishide is based in the Zenjyoji area of Ujitawara. This is a small district at the side of the Tawara River, a tributary of the Uji River.
Kuwari matcha from Nishide is created solely from leaves from this Zenjyoji region. The family named it “KUWARI” which was the name of Zenjyoji before the middle of the Heian era.
This bright green matcha has a lovely balanced flavour and smooth mouthfeel. There is a delicate creamy flavour with medium umami, sweet grassy notes that linger on the tongue and and low bitterness / astringency.

About the producers: Nishide Tea Factory is managed by husband and wife team, Takashi and Atsuko Nishide with their family. The factory was established over 140 years ago, the Nishide family buys aracha, unrefined tea leaves, from several partner tea farmers in Kyoto and surrounding prefectures, and refines them further to craft high quality tea leaves that are uniform in colour, shape, and of course excellent in flavour.
