Single Cultivar Japanese Black Tea

Small Batch Teas from Issin-en, Miyazaki Prefecture

40g

This beautifully crafted wakocha is created from the Minami-sayaka cultivar. It has quite a unique flavour characteristic with beautiful floral aroma with mellow fruity muscat notes. The infusion has a full body with velvety smooth mouthfeel. The name Minami sayaka translates to "refreshing scent of the south."

Issin-en focuses on working with nature rather than against it. The teas are all grown with a deep respect for their surrounding environment and the biodiversity found around their tea fields.

These single cultivar wakocha varieties from Issin-en represent part of a growing movement in Japan to produce high-quality black teas that showcase the unique characteristics of Japanese tea cultivars and terroir.

The farm produce all of their own fertilisers and investigate the soils by sending small samples of each fields to a lab each year. They then can decide how much we to use in each field.  They only use plant-based ingredients for homemade fertilisers, which give the teas a clear taste.
