This first flush, ichibancha spring sencha is picked in early April and is one of Chiyoneon's first green teas of the spring season. As such the high quality leaves produce a sencha that is both rich, fragrant and sweet. 

The tea gardens sit mid mountain in a cold climate region at an altitude of around 600m. This creates a deep and fragrant taste in the resulting teas.

This ichibancha is suitable for multiple steepings, each steep offering new and complex flavours. We recommend starting off cooler, gradually increasing the temperatures whilst shortening infusion times.

This high-quality tea is produced without the use of chemical fertilisers, the farm uses a unique farming method of using hand-picked fermented organic fertilisers (bokashi fertilisers).

As the leaves are so small and young they can be eaten after you finish your brewing session. Mix through rice or a salad, add to soup or ass a dash of ponzu and cucumber to create a delicious side dish.

Masashi san has received Japan's top agricultural prize, the Minister's Award, three times, Masashi san is one of Japan's top farmers. He is currently teaching his son how to both cultivate and produce the highest quality tea.
