This two tone, red and black Tokoname Kyusu holds around 300ml. The fine ceramic mesh strainer is suitable for both fine and larger leaf teas.
The pattern on the surface of these kyusu is called Tobikanna. A traditional method of creating patterns by hand using a sharp tool to cut into the surface of the pottery.
Made by second generation Tamamitsu craftsman Mr. Hirotaka Umehara. In 1988 Mr. Umehara established Tamamitsu Touen Co and in 1997 Built the Anagama kiln (Shiinoki kiln). Master Umehara is certified as a Traditional Craftsman by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan. He now works at the kiln with his son the 3rd generation master Yukitaka.
