This small round black Tokoname kyusu features a ceramic mesh strainer that is suitable for both smaller loose leaf teas and larger leaf. The size of the size of this kyusu is ideal for high grade green teas.

About Tokoname: Located on the west coast of the Chita Peninsula facing Ise Bay, Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture is known as a pottery town nationwide. Tokoname ware is counted as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan with a history going back to 1100AD.
Tokoname teapots were designated as a traditional craft by the Japanese government in 1976 and are characterised by their fine grain and strong firing, which is achieved by using a clay that contains high amounts of iron.
