Shigaraki-yaki Tea Bowl made for Hechimon by Meishan Kiln
The handmade nature of these crackle glaze shigaraki chawan mean no two are exactly the same. As the bowl is used the crackles will take on a life of its own as the tea seeps into the glaze.

About Shigaraki-yaki: Shigaraki ware is made in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. It is counted as one of the six oldest kilns in Japan and is said to have a long history of 1,260 years.
It was designated as a traditional craft by the national government in 1976.
About Hechimon: Hechimon is the one of a kind collection by Marui Seito Co. Marui Seto is a third generation Shigaraki yaki producer based in Shiga Prefecture.
Hechimon is a Shigaraki craftsman's word meaning "windswept things" or "one of a kind".
"The vessels have a variety of expressions, just like the various shapes created by nature and the individual personalities of each of us. These vessels are made by skilled craftsmen who know the importance of "heterogeneity" and are filled with playfulness and sincerity."
