Stripe Tokoname-ware Kyusu from Tokohan inc.
The clay used to create these Kyusu is fired at extreme temperatures, carbonising and turning the ceramic black. The craftsmen carve a step pattern into the body of the teapot and paint teh raised area a grey colour. The lid and the body are mortised together to make a pair. Therefore, there are polishing marks on the lid and the body.
