Black Raku-yaki Tea Bowl

 

Rakuware is hand-formed rather than thrown on a wheel and is made from a porous clay. The bowls are known for being very light weight with imperfect in shapes that capture the essence of wabicha (tea ceremony).

This Kuro-raku (black raku) bowl has flashes of red in the deep black glaze.
