Tokoname: WDH Black Kyusu - Round

This kyusu from WDH is made by craftsmen in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, the historic centre of kyusu production. Each kyusu is carefully handmade by craftsmen, from the molding of the body, lid, spout, tea strainer, and handle to the final baking process.

The delicate and soft movements of the craftsmen are like those of a Kabuki actor who has a great deal of skill and attention to detail, right down to the tips of his fingers.

The tea strainer is made of fine mesh ceramic that has no metallic smell and brings out the aroma and flavour of tea to the fullest. The more the tea strainer is used, the deeper its colour and lustre will change over time.  The shape of the kyusu allows the tea leaves to swim freely in the teapot, and the convection currents bring out the original aroma and flavour of the tea to the maximum.
