Daruma Dolls are modelled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism.

Daruma dolls are seen as a talisman of good luck to the Japanese. As such they make a popular gift of encouragement.

Traditionally these dolls are red however they now come in a variety of colours and designs depending on the artist.
